On Sunday, June 24, 2018, a thousand acre wildfire consumed a portion of the fishing village of Eastpoint, Florida in Franklin County. Thirty-six homes were destroyed and some 200 people were displaced.
As the disaster is “too small” for direct F.E.M.A. assistance, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has assumed the leadership role in providing recovery services. ReNew has been matched with a family to assist, and we will be rebuilding them a home. A detailed plan is being drafted in concert with Franklin County, and direct relief efforts will begin as soon as possible.
Here is how you can help right now: Give. Thiss project is reliant upon funding, and we anticipate a cost of $65,000 for the rebuild, with additional funds needed for rental, utilities, and housing (in the short term) for the burned out family. All donations to ReNew for this project will be used for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal EIN: 82-2916148). Giving can be done by traditional and/or online means (below via PayPal).
In the weeks ahead, we will be organizing day and overnight trips to Eastpoint to complete the construction project. Email Ronnie McBrayer directly if you are interested. No donations of clothing, home furnishings, or the like are needed at this time.
